In an unprecedented historic achievement, the Arab Republic of Egypt won the presidency of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for the period from 2026 to 2028, becoming the first Arab country and the second African country to hold this position since the organization's founding in 1947. This victory represents global recognition of Egypt's efforts in developing the standards, quality, and accreditation system, and promoting the implementation of modern management systems and international ISO standards within government and private institutions.

This achievement came after a strong competition with Argentina, with Egypt receiving 63 votes compared to 49 votes for its competitor during the voting held among member states of the #ISO.
